Preliminary Information: EMA Firmware AOS 6.98
We are pleased to inform you about the latest improvements in the AOS 6.98 firmware for EMA. We recommend installing this update for EMA, which has undergone comprehensive testing and is approved for production use.
Administrators can now manually install the update package via the "Information/Firmware" page in EMA. Automatic distribution will commence from 9 June 2025.
Key Enhancement
New EMA Outlook Add-in: Firmware AOS 6.98 optimally prepares your EMA for our new Outlook Add-in. The Add-in is available for installation in your Microsoft 365 tenant through Microsoft AppSource. This allows you to find emails and archived company data in seconds - whether you're using classic Outlook, the new Outlook, or Outlook Web App. No client-side software installation required.
Additional Product Improvements
Enhanced Outlook Add-in Features
- New Add-in capabilities: The new Outlook Add-in now supports forwarding, restoring and downloading emails, as well as working with attributes. These actions no longer require opening the EMA web interface.
Advanced Network Configuration
- SOCKS proxy for Exchange: Exchange Envelope Journaling can now connect to mailbox servers through a SOCKS proxy, improving usability in restrictive network environments.
- Improved M365 integration: We've revised our script for automatic integration of EMA into Microsoft 365 tenants, making initial setup significantly easier.
Storage Management
- Optimised storage groups: Storage group management has been improved. Storage groups can now be expanded even when they are completely filled with data (no free space left at all). Previously, EMA always required some free space in a storage group to expand the file system.
Fixed Issues
- Milter functionality: EMA can now process incorrectly formatted email addresses.
- Enhanced memory management: Optimised error handling for complex searches that would otherwise overload working memory.
- Let's Encrypt certificates: Changed domain lists are now saved when performing a manual certificate renewal. Previously, changes would be lost if they were not explicitly saved before.
- LDAP date restrictions: Fixed an issue with storing cutoff dates for user accounts with fixed date restrictions via LDAP attributes.
- Email viewer: Corrected display of emails with faulty content encoding.
- Backup performance: Improved backup performance - now documents no longer need to pass through EMA's local cache in many cases.
- VSTOR integration: Corrected the display of connected iSCSI storage for customers using VSTOR Vault Direct Attached Storage.
- LDAP connection encryption: Improved compatibility with LDAP servers that exclusively support encrypted connections.
- M365 email restore: Enhanced error message display for native Microsoft 365 email restore (public preview).
AOS 6.98 enhances your EMA system with focused improvements to both functionality and stability. This release sets the stage for our upcoming AOS 7.0 - a major update we're currently developing.
