Preliminary information: Firmware AOS 6.9 for EMA
We are pleased to inform you about the latest improvements in the AOS 6.9 firmware for EMA.
With this update package, we are significantly enhancing the security architecture of EMA and introducing two-factor authentication for administrator accounts as an additional layer of security. In addition to other functional enhancements, AOS 6.9 addresses minor bugs and implements various optimisations.
We recommend installing the update, which has been thoroughly tested by us and approved for use with EMA in production environments. The update package is now available for manual installation and will be automatically distributed from 02/09/2024.
Product Improvements
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Introduction of the option for two-factor authentication for administrator accounts using TOTP. Configuration is possible for each administrator account individually.
System Core: For EMA On-Premise Appliances, there is an update to the system core, which includes improvements in the connection to archive storage and enhances performance and stability. A restart of EMA is necessary to update the system core. However, as usual with our updates, this will not require an enforced reboot during installation.
Login via LDAP: The compatibility of connections via LDAPS has been improved, and EMA now supports the latest TLS versions when establishing LDAPS connections.
Folder Synchronisation: Microsoft 365 mailboxes can now be filtered more effectively. User accounts with non-existent mailboxes will be automatically skipped. For customers using a hybrid environment, there is the option to modify this behaviour.
Entra ID App for Connectivity between EMA and Microsoft 365: Instead of the previously common manual setup, it is now possible to automate the configuration using a script downloaded from EMA.
Firegate: Support for new second-generation Firegate connectors for integrating local resources into EMA Cloud. Fast, simple, and convenient setup. Maximum security based on WireGuard® technology.
Scan OCR Connector: An update to the connector now supports current Windows Server versions and removes the dependency on legacy components.
EMA for SAP Solutions: EMA now supports the latest versions of the SAP libraries. Introduction of a new object filter for SAP metadata. Addition of a test button for SAP tables to retrieve information across multiple SAP pages. Introduction of a new feature to retrieve information about stored certificates.
Exchange Envelope Journaling: Support for proxy servers to retrieve the journal mailbox.
Fixed Issues
Folder Synchronisation: Optimisation of the behaviour when retrieving folder lists from mailboxes.
Email Viewer: Corrected an issue where incorrect text decoding was applied to plain text emails.
WAN Synchronisation: Improved handling of rare errors during the synchronisation process, which only occurred in exceptional cases.
Extension for Microsoft Outlook: Improved behaviour of Single Sign-On.
A Note for Customers with EMA On-Premise Hardware
With the upcoming firmware update AOS 7.0, we will discontinue support for very old hardware revisions. This affects all devices sold before 2010. We have provided firmware updates for some of the affected hardware platforms for 16 years, but we have now reached a point where this is no longer possible.
