AOS 6.98 Firmware Update for EMA

We're rolling out significant improvements with AOS firmware 6.98 for EMA. After rigorous testing in our labs, this update is now ready for your production environment, and we highly recommend installing it.

IT admins can grab the update package right now through the "Information/Firmware" page in EMA. If you prefer to wait, it'll be pushed automatically to all EMA archivers starting June 9, 2025.

Outlook Integration Gets a Boost: AOS 6.98 lays the groundwork for our new Outlook Add-In. You can download it directly from Microsoft AppSource for your Microsoft 365 tenant. The new Outlook Integration lets you find emails and archived company data in a snap – whether you're using classic Outlook, new Outlook, or the web version. The best part? Zero client-side installation needed.

Outlook Add-In Power-Up

More Functionality at Your Fingertips: Our Outlook Add-In now handles forwarding, restoring, and downloading emails, plus attribute management – all without having to jump over to the EMA web interface.

Network Upgrades

SOCKS Proxy Support for Exchange: Exchange Envelope Journaling now works through a SOCKS proxy to connect with mailbox servers, making life easier in locked-down network environments.
Smoother M365 Setup: We've streamlined our script that integrates EMA into your Microsoft 365 tenant, making the whole onboarding process much more straightforward.

Storage Improvements

Improved Storage Groups: We've revamped storage group handling. Now your storage groups can expand even when they're completely full (no free space left at all) – previously, EMA needed a bit of free space to grow the file system.

Fixed Issues

Milter Support: EMA can now deal with malformatted email addresses for messages delivered via the Milter interface.
Memory Management: We've fine-tuned how the system handles resource-intensive complex searches that would otherwise eat up too many system resources.
Let's Encrypt Made Easier: When you renew certificates manually via the web interface, changed domain lists are automatically saved – no need to explicitly save configuration changes first.
LDAP Date Fix: We squashed a bug related to saving cutoff dates for user accounts with fixed date restrictions via LDAP attributes.
Email Viewer: Fixed how emails with incorrect content encoding are displayed.
Faster Backups: Streamlined backup performance – archived documents no longer need to pass through the local cache first in all cases.
VSTOR Integration: Fixed the display issues for connected iSCSI storage for VSTOR Vault Direct Attached Storage users.
LDAP Security Compatibility: Better compatibility with LDAP servers that only work with encrypted connections.
M365 Email Recovery: Improved error messages for the native Microsoft 365 email restore feature (currently in public preview).
