Firmware AOS 6.92 for EMA Overview
We are pleased to inform you about the latest improvements in the AOS 6.92 firmware for EMA.
This update enhances EMA's security architecture and completes the transition to the new ARTEC Cloud Connector for Microsoft 365. We recommend installing this update for EMA, which has undergone comprehensive testing and is approved for production use.
Administrators can manually install the update package through the Information/Firmware page in EMA. Automatic distribution will commence on 21 January 2025.
AOS 6.92 marks the final release in our 2024 update cycle.
Product Improvements
New ARTEC Cloud Connector Migration: In September, we announced the new ARTEC Cloud Connector for Microsoft 365 in our blog post. The legacy Cloud Connector will be decommissioned in early 2025. See below for important details.
EMA Cloud Integration Improvements: This update delivers enhanced support for connecting EMA Cloud to local networks.
eInvoice Enhancement: All previously archived electronic invoices will be automatically reindexed for full-text search capability. This enhancement brings the benefits of EMA's eInvoicing features to your entire archive, including historical documents.
Enhanced LDAP Security with TLSv1.3: LDAP authentication now supports stronger encryption, resolving specific connection issues some customers have experienced.
Improved Email Restore: EMA now handles TLS-only SMTP servers more efficiently.
Microsoft 365 Direct Mail Restore (Preview): EMA can now restore email directly to users' Outlook mailboxes in Microsoft 365 environments using the Microsoft Graph API, eliminating the need for SMTP transmission. This preview feature can be enabled upon request through customer support. We plan to make this feature generally available with AOS 6.93 and welcome feedback from customers interested in testing it.
Fixed Issues
- Two-Factor Authentication Update: Following customer feedback, we've better aligned our TOTP implementation with the widely adopted RFC6238 standard, ensuring compatibility with popular authenticator apps, including Microsoft Authenticator. This change requires existing tokens to be recreated.
For IT Pros
Legacy Cloud Connector Retirement - Early 2025
The new ARTEC Cloud Connector for Microsoft 365 has been available since September. This enhanced version features a modern web interface with clear status indicators, improved security through the new Journal Firewall, and comprehensive monitoring capabilities for system administrators. Available in nine languages, it's designed to scale efficiently for organizations of any size.
Migration to the new Cloud Connector is free for existing customers and typically takes about 5 minutes to complete. To identify your current version, check your endpoint address. Temporary parallel operation of both versions is supported.

- January 6th 2025: Our support team will proactively contact customers still using the legacy connector.
- January 21st 2025: Scheduled service interruption of the legacy connector in preparation for retirement. We strongly recommend migrating to the new ARTEC Cloud Connector for Microsoft 365 before this date.

Legacy Hardware Support Update
The planned AOS 7.0 firmware update in 2025 will discontinue support for older hardware revisions, specifically devices sold before 2010.
While we've provided firmware updates for some of this hardware for up to 16 years, we've reached a point where this is no longer feasible. The technical limitations of these legacy hardware revisions make it impossible to implement the new features planned for AOS 7.0.
